The season of gift-giving is fast approaching, and flea market and swap meet vendors have a lot of stocking up to do in order to give shoppers everything they are looking for. According to Andre Hordagoda, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Go Instore, consumers will be looking for the same gifts that they did last year.
“People established new routines and habits, likes and dislikes, interests, and hobbies over the course of the pandemic,” Hordagoda said. “Those who took up cooking or baking during the pandemic will likely still be interested in receiving housewares as gifts this holiday season, and those who began building their own at-home gyms will still enjoy new fitness equipment. The way that the pandemic has changed and shaped consumers’ lifestyles will likely have a higher impact than we realize, resulting in little change in their purchasing decisions.”
As for the types of experiences shoppers will be looking for, Hordagoda says that a combination of the personalization of the traditional retail experience and the ease and convenience that online shopping provides is crucial this year. Experiences will need to be enhanced while also keeping extended safety precautions, such as contactless payment options and sanitizing stations, as part of the concept.
