Traders Village Houston has added six new rides to the market, just in time for the first of several annual festivals held on the grounds. It recently released its event schedule for 2013 and will start the year with the 24th annual barbecue and chili cook-off, held on January 26 and 27. Saturday’s competitions include Jackpot Pinto Beans, Junior Chili, Jackpot Chili and Fajitas. Sunday’s contests are in divisions for chicken, pork ribs and brisket. Flea market gates open at 9 a.m. for shoppers and the cook-off begins at 12 p.m. Proceeds from the event go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Information about participating in this event is available by contacting Greg Knox at greg@knoxkomputerservice.com.
Other dates include the 24th annual Auto Swap Meet on March 16, the 17th annual Bayou City Cajun Festival on April 13 and 14, and the 24th annual Native American Championship Pow-Wow on November 9 and 10, to name a few. The full calendar is now posted on the Traders Village website, www.tradersvillage.com/houston. The flea market is located northwest of the downtown area, at 7979 North Eldridge Road, Houston, TX 77041.
