Since 1890, the City of Bowie, TX, has been offering residents, vendors and visitors a chance to trade a mule, buy a horse, get a bite to eat, and browse through the aisles of a huge market to their heart’s content. Although there is a lot less horse and mule trading going on in the 21st century, the market is still chock full of fun and is an amazing source for everything from apparel, crafts, and antiques to video games and cell phone accessories. You can also still get a great snack or a meal from one of the outstanding food vendors who set up each month.
The 2nd Monday Market is held — you guessed it — on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday before the 2nd Monday of every month. Friday is predominantly a set-up day, but business is conducted with all friendly browsers! The market’s official hours are Saturday and Sunday 8am-5pm. A registration office is on site, but vendors are encouraged to make a reservation in advance.
Vendors may contact either Bonnie Kinder or Clyde Johnson through the City of Bowie offices at 940-872-4861 or 940-841-1550, or via email at SecondMonday@cityofbowietx.com in order to make a reservation.
For more details on the monthly market, check out the City of Bowie website and get registered for the next great weekend!
