Depending on where you live, being a flea market vendor can prove to be even harder work when Mother Nature is involved. Indoor markets struggle during the summer and outdoor markets struggle throughout the winter months. So what other option is available to vendors in order to succeed no matter what the weather? Try out the Flealess Market. The idea for the Flealess Market came from one of Yassenoff’s friends recommending he take some of their vacant space and set up like the Antique Malls, which operate by selling items for vendors without them having to actually be at the market. “We have always had customers coming in saying why isn’t anyone open? We do not have anyone saying that anymore after going flealess,” said Skip Yassenoff, owner of the Flealess Market. “Markets spiral down because customers show up but dealers are not open. Customers leave, the dealers are not doing business, and then the customers are disappointed. It is a vicious cycle.”
The Flealess Market is open Friday through Sunday 10am-7pm and specializes in selling electronics, jewelry, art, t-shirts, books, health and beauty items and collectables such as Beanie Babies and Nascar. “The market itself continues to get stronger and have better dealers and fixtures,” said Yassenoff. “We have been doing this for 15 years now.” For more information on the Flealess Market go to www.westlandfleamarket.com.
