The De Anza College Flea Market, in Cupertino, CA, is held the first Saturday of every month, including holidays. The market is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. If the weather is good the market will typically draw 15,000 to 20,000 shoppers. The De Anza Flea Market contains about 825 vendor stalls and usually sells out quickly. The June 1, 2013, market, for example, is sold out, and vendors must wait until June 1 to mail in an application for the July 6 event.
Booth rental fees range from $30 for a 14-foot by 14-foot space to $120 for a 14-foot by 56-foot space. Six-month contracts are available now for July to December 2013. Vendors selling new, handcrafted or collectable items must obtain a seller’s permit/resale license from the State of California Board of Equalization.
The De Anza Flea Market began as a small effort by the students of De Anza College to raise money for the student body over 30 years ago and has grown into an established community event attracting vendors and patrons from throughout the state. The De Anza Flea Market is still a student run enterprise with the De Anza Associated Student Body paying for all of the expenses and gaining approximately $300,000 annually for a variety of programs, services and events at the college.
