When thinking of a flea market, many people envision a place to browse for discounted items. At Bargain City Galleria, owner Ed Migley says they want to be seen as far more than such a limited shopping experience. The Galleria is also an entertainment site. “We run this flea market, not as a flea market, but as a business. We strive for customer satisfaction, quality merchandise, and we have rules and regulations for opening and closing times. We have had so many people come in and say it was a great idea to take the market to the next level.”
The Bargain City Galleria is now entering its fifth year as a business and has grown from 58,000 to 90,000 square feet of space over the years. What began as a flea superstore was then brought to the most historical landmark in all of discount shopping history in Rhode Island. “The problem was that we were acting, looking and promoting like a flea market, but we were searching for a more diverse shopping base,” said Migley. “We don’t call our participants vendors, we call them merchants, store owners and managers. All of the stores together resemble a mini-mall and we keep everything cohesive.”
The Bargain City Galleria is open every Saturday and Sunday from 9am-5pm for the ultimate shopping experience, including stores, food courts and live auctions every Saturday. With a 98 percent positive feedback rating, this innovative space suites the needs of all. For further information go to www.mybargaincity.com.
