The Market of Marion, a flea market in Belleview, FL, had a massive fire on Monday evening, Sept 9, 2019, in several areas of the market, according to WFTV News. The fire started near Highway 441 at around 7pm. Photos and video shared by the Marion County Fire Rescue showed flames burning in the building.
The Marion Market is a weekend flea with over 1,100 booths and more than 400 dealers. The nearly 10,000 square foot building was on fire, but it did not spread from there. Fire crews said it took 53 firefighters about an hour to get the fire under control. Investigators are continuing to search for what caused the fire, but there seems to be no suspicion of foul play.
According to the market’s Facebook page, the only aisle with fire damage is C south with some smoke damage down the main aisle. Nobody is permitted inside the market property at this point, and they will keep both vendors and shoppers updated for the plan this coming weekend. Continue to stay tuned to the market’s Facebook page for updates.
