Lara Spencer, the lifestyle anchor on “Good Morning America,” is the creator and host of HGTV’s Flea Market Flip, which kicks off its second season tonight at 9 p.m. In each episode, two teams of flea market patrons compete for $5,000 by scouring the flea market for $500 worth of merchandise, then “flipping” the merchandise, repurposing it and selling it for a profit. Cameras catch every detail as the teams use their best showmanship and haggling skills. “Flea Market Flip combines elements of competition, design, DIY and bargain hunting,” says HGTV general manager, Kathleen Finch.
“I’ve been [refurbishing antiques] for as long as I can remember,” Spencer told the New York Daily News, and it was a natural leap for her to develop Flea Market Flip. Spencer said that she began refurbishing her own flea market finds when she was just a kid.
