Global Spectrum, the Philadelphia based management company that manages the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell will host the Backyard Sunday River Festival this summer on four separate occasions. The free admission flea market style event will take place behind the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell and feature local businesses as well as live local music. Each day will begin with a flea market from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. followed by live music from 4- 6 p.m. The first date is scheduled for June 22.
As spin off of last year’s Backyard Music Series, which featured local bands throughout the summer months behind the Tsongas Center, this year’s added element of a flea market during the day will offer another viable entertainment option for the people of Lowell and the surrounding communities. People are encouraged to come during the day to shop and stay during the evening for the music.
Bands playing on this year’s Backyard Sunday River Festival stage presented by Lowell Jewelry and Loan will be Evan Goodrow on June 22, Ripcord on July 13, The Four Legged Faithful on August 10 and Hal Holiday and the No Tones on September 7.
Admission is free to the public. Lawn chairs are welcomed and everyone is encouraged to come to shop and stay for the music along the river. Food and beverages as well as adult beverages will be available at the concessions stands for each Sunday.
