For about 40 years, the Oldsmar Flea Market has been one of the largest markets on Florida’s West Coast, featuring hundreds of vendors selling furniture, local produce, gourmet food, antiques, modern and contemporary household items, clothing electronics, jewelry, and much more. Recently, the market was purchased by Grady Pridgen and he has some great plans to spruce up the market over the next couple of years.
“Exciting things are going to happen,” Andy Brouillard, VP of Hospitality at Oldsmar Flea Market, said. “We have a huge venue we are planning to open and change the whole facade of the market. It’s currently a very busy corner with 150,000 cars passing by every day, but we’re going to make it more modern and family oriented.”
One of the things they plan on changing is the open availability for Oldsmar Flea Market. Right now, the market is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Eventually, Pridgen and his team would like to have the market stay open 7 days a week since there will be more to do at Oldsmar. Between the restaurants and other shops in the Tampa Bay area, the Oldsmar Flea Market will become a more lively and fun experience for tourists and locals alike.
“We looked at Disney Springs and how they market different areas, and we realized we want that kind of look,” Brouillard said. “There will be different sections for craft vendors, food vendors, farmers market, entertainment, fast food, hubs of restaurants in the area, and the big 12,000 sq. ft. venue center. We would be the big spot.” The team has already started cleaning, respacing, and upgrading for the new and improved market.
The thing that makes Oldsmar Flea Market stand out from the rest is that good ole’ flea market nostalgia. While keeping the same look and feel of an old Florida flea market, Oldsmar will now bring the excitement and entertainment of the festival that comes to town once a year for a whole week, except this fun-filled event won’t be going anywhere. Customers will be able to go bargain shopping while also enjoying weekly events at the amphitheater, game nights at the sports bar, and dining out for tourists visiting the area.
Right now, Oldsmar Flea Market has over 1,100 spaces, with room available for new vendors. Most vendors have actually been there for 20 or 30 years, since the market first opened. To be a part of Tampa Bay’s best shopping experience, call 813-855-5306 or email rentofm@gmail.com to find out how you can be a vendor at Oldsmar. It’s a great way for business owners to generate additional leads on weekends, especially after they finish revamping the place! You aren’t going to want to miss being a part of this selling experience.
Primary market days are Saturday and Sunday from 9am – 4pm and Fridays from 10am – 3pm. Oldsmar Flea Market is free to the public and open rain or shine. The market team is constantly updating their Facebook page with the latest events and happenings, so be sure to check back often.
