“Hey Sugar,” from K & K Products, is a safe way to remove unwanted hair without the inconvenience and expense of going to a salon. “Not only will people save time and money using Hey Sugar at home, it is great for traveling,” says Kathy Savacool, president. Made in the USA, the product contains honey and sugar, and has aloe vera mixed in to keep the skin soft and supple. It is completely wax-free and 100 percent natural.
Much like traditional waxes, Hey Sugar removes hair at the root, leaving skin smooth for several weeks. Sugar wax is easily washed off with water and doesn’t require waxing strips, and many users report that it is gentler and less painful than traditional wax.
Hey Sugar can be used cold or warmed up in a bowl of warm water or in the microwave prior to use. The product is applied to clean, dry skin in the direction of hair growth, left to cool for 15 to 30 seconds then removed in one single movement using a pellon strip.
“If you were going to do your eyebrows, for example, you would put a thin layer around your brows, press a strip on, run your thumb over the strip two or three times in the direction the hair grows and then remove the strip as if you were taking off a bandage,” Savacool explains. “You can have your eyebrows done in two to three minutes.” An alternative to using the pellon strip is the flick method, whereby users quickly remove hair from the body in short, fast “flicks” in the direction of hair growth.
“Hey Sugar is an excellent product that is made in the United States,” Savacool continues. “It’s a quick seller at flea markets—I’ve sold it myself. Vendors can put some strips in a bowl and show people how it works. I do a demonstration on the arm and the product sells itself.”
The product is available in two sizes, six- and 12-ounce. The six-ounce kit, which wholesales for $7.50 and retails for $15 to $22, includes a hygienic wooden spatula, liner stick for eyebrows and six reusable pellon strips. The 12-ounce kit wholesales for $12.95 and retails for $24.95, and includes a hygienic wooden spatula, liner stick for eyebrows, eight reusable pellon strips and a jar of aftercare oil. “They are packaged in a beautiful box that says Hey Sugar, and all the directions are included in both Spanish and English,” Savacool notes.
The minimum order is two cases, and each case contains 12 products. Vendors will receive 10 percent off their first purchase if they mention the word “summer.” K & K Products is donating a portion of the proceeds to Susan G. Komen For the Cure and the American Diabetes Association.
