Flea markets are now open to the public again as the summer is hitting its peak month. Flea market owners are reporting better than ever attendee numbers, and independent sellers are ready to get out there and start selling. But now, the one thing on all of our minds is if there will be a second wave of the virus.
Health experts have been warning of a second wave of coronavirus for months, and as markets and other events start reopening, it’s critical for both guests and employees to abide by CDC health regulations. NPR reports that there is no second wave upon us, and the only threat society has is people not adhering to safety protocols and continuing the spread of the virus.
Markets such as Trader’s Village and United Flea Markets are taking the extra steps necessary to keep everyone safe, such as requiring employees to wear face masks and increasing the cleaning on the premises. As long as markets keep up with safety guidelines, the concern for the virus spreading will be much lower.
In other positive news, Deloitte recently released their State of the Consumer Tracker, which shows anxiety and health concerns from consumers are starting to ease. More U.S. consumers (42%) feel safe going to the store, up significantly from 30 percent in April. With the worry of the pandemic easing and shoppers getting antsy stuck in their homes, independent sellers can expect a good outcome for in-person shopping this summer.
