As we all continue to enjoy our pumpkin spice drinks for the rest of the month, November is definitely a time to be thankful. Outdoor markets are starting to wind down with the cold weather coming in, but the flea market industry as a whole has continued to surprise everyone and thrive despite the pandemic.
Despite the ecommerce boom, 90.4 percent of consumers are still opting for at least one in-person shopping trip per week during the pandemic, according to new survey data released today by Ubimo, a Quotient brand specializing in out-of-home technology. The survey also found that when consumers leave their homes, 92.9 percent have a specific plan in mind about what stores they need to visit and what they need to buy.
This is further proof that consumers are out there and ready to shop in person. Even though many still feel safer shopping online, you just can’t beat that personalized shopping experience from a friendly sales associate.
Customers have already begun shopping for the holidays, but there are still two months left to determine what the busiest shopping season of the year will bring. Salesforce recently released their holiday predictions data, based on the activity of over one billion shoppers on Commerce Cloud, for the 2020 shopping season.
Some key points to note are that digital sales are expected to reach a new record high of $940 billion globally and $221 billion in the U.S., and about $280 billion in online purchases are expected to be returned globally, which equals out to be 30 percent of all purchases made. If you are a vendor who accepts returns, make sure to have a game plan ready for customers who are looking to make a return so you don’t miss out on all that revenue.
All these tips and more can be found in the November issue of our magazine so sellers can be as prepared as possible for the holiday season. Happy Thanksgiving and happy selling!
