The Hudson Valley Marketplace is now open and off to a steady start. The nautical themed building boasts a Buccaneer Alley and a Quarterdeck to compliment the tropical teal walls, but the vendors inside cover all varieties of ground. With the capacity to hold several hundred vendors, the indoor market features a food court, a farmers’ market and a general merchandise area. Market owner Eli Nassim remarks, “We’ve done extensive renovations to the building itself, which took three years of running around just to take care of the building permits, but it’s all been worthwhile.” The most popular merchandise is in women’s jewelry and clothing, but the market caters to all types of vendors.
Since opening in March, the market has made strides in advertising by launching a detailed website complete with a promotional video. “We’re going to do a new video, too,” Nassim says. “It will be run on local television for advertising.” Vendors who rent space on a monthly basis receive the benefit of added advertising, but Massim offers that he and market manager Sherry Dicessare will work with vendors who wish to rent by the weekend, ass well.
All the Essential Details
Booths are 10 feet by 10 feet in size, constructed with clapboard and equipped with electrical outlets in each space. These spaces can also be secured so as to give vendors a little peace of mind while they’re away. “The market is all inclusive,” Nassim says. “We have wireless internet and are full service. We take care of the garbage and everything else.” He takes pride in the market’s organization and cleanliness and hopes the market will continue to grow.
