If you are looking for the latest in handmade products, then attending the Arts and Crafts Show from November 20-22 at the Iowa State Fairgrounds is where you need to be. From furniture, jewelry, and artwork, to floral arrangements, books and food, this Arts and Crafts show has been a staple in the Des Moines area for the past 14 years. “The products you see here are guaranteed not to be found anywhere else,” says Tom Callahan, Show Promoter. “These are one of a kind, handmade products. This is a place where as long as you are making something you can participate, it’s as simple as that.”
Some of the unique finds that customers can expect to see at this year’s Arts and Crafts Show include jewelry made from soda cans, typewriter keys or bullet casings, homemade instruments called Picking Sticks and pottery made on site. “This is a fun show to go to,” says Callahan. “You don’t realize how artistic and creative people can be until you see it for yourself. It’s a lot of fun to see all this talent and skill being displayed all in one place. We don’t offer entertainment at the show because the show itself is the attraction.”
The show has 325 exhibitors and runs Friday, Nov 20, from 5-9pm, Saturday, Nov 21, from 9am-5pm, and Sunday, Nov 22, from 10am-4pm. Admission is $7 for adults and children; with free admission for those under the age of 10. For more information visit www.iowastatefairgrounds.org.
