Kobey’s Swap Meet, in operation for 32 years, at the Valley View Casino Center (formerly the San Diego Sports Arena) in San Diego announces it is “pet friendly” and will allow both shoppers and vendors to bring animals to the outdoor market. All animals must be leashed and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Kobey’s says it will be installing a “doggy waste station” in the coming month. In addition, Kobey’s has raised its adult admission price to $1 on Fridays and Saturdays and $2 on Sundays. Seniors are admitted for $1 all days and children 11 years old and under are still free. Anthony Pretto of Kobey’s says, “It has been over 20 years since Kobey’s raised its admission fees but we must do this to stay ahead of our rising operating costs.”
Vendor prices for spaces approximately 16′ by 18′ remain $15 on Fridays and $30 on Saturdays and Sundays. The market, located at 3500 Sports Arena Blvd., has a non-profit program and donates spaces, the use of a canopy, tables and chairs, and entry passes to qualified non-profit organizations.
Kobey’s Swap Meet, open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., draws about 1,000 sellers and 30,000 shoppers each week. Kobey’s sells used and new merchandise including antiques and collectibles, automotive, books, canopies and supplies, clothing and accessories for adults and children, and computers and electronics.
