Los Angeles flea market adds ‘block party’ with food trucks

A two-year-old outdoor market in Los Angeles is attracting more foot-traffic with the addition earlier this year of trendy food vending trucks and music on every market day. Located on Micheltorena Street at Sunset Boulevard, the Silver Lake Art Craft & Vintage flea market has added five food trucks, a local DJ, and musical acts to make up its “Food Truck Block Party.”
“It is almost a city block of food trucks,” says Fiora Boes, a spokesperson for the market. “We have two to three local indie bands playing per day, and now we are adding a DJ set.”

The market usually attracts 50 to 100 vendors, and features a wide range of products, including houseplants, clothing, art, and more. Held on the playground of the Micheltorena St. Elementary School, the Silver Lake flea market raises funds for a local school. The market runs on the last Saturday and Sunday of each month, from 10 am to 4 pm. For more information, check out the Web site.
