McCloud9 Jewelry Design and Foundry offers more than 3,000 jewelry creations, all designed and hand carved by artist Marvin H. McCloud, Jr., who adds 250 to 400 new items each year. The diverse collection includes art deco, big game animals, game birds, water treasures, baby zoo animals and many other designs fashioned into bracelets, earrings, pendants and rings. They are primarily available in pewter. “People like pewter because it is a nice looking metal and the price is affordable,” McCloud points out.
McCloud recently finished a line of miniature busts of 24 Native American nationalities, including Cheyenne, Sioux, Blackfoot and Iroquois nations, and four Mountain Men styles, for earring and pendants. “I designed a beaver trap, tomahawk, pistols, rifles and powder horns,” McCloud comments. “Miniatures are huge sellers right now,” he adds.
Jewelry is the most popular product category at flea markets, according to the 2013 State of the Flea Market Industry survey, and McCloud offers a vast selection of wholesale jewelry kits. Each kit, available at the recently discounted price of $150, comprises 10 pieces of each of five designs, for a total of 50 pieces. Retail is from $9.95 to $24.95 per piece, depending on the market’s location and the item itself. McCloud9 also dropped the price of its “25 of one kind” from $100 to $65. The wholesale jewelry kits, of which one is the new Native American and Mountain Men collection, give vendors the opportunity to purchase a selection of merchandise at affordable prices, McCloud notes. Future jewelry introductions include motorcycle and old vehicle pens and pendants, McCloud reveals.
McCloud has been creating artwork since he was a young child, and he works in every media, including oil and water color, clock making, glass etching, candle making, scrimshaw on mammoth ivory and horns, and taxidermy, to name a few. He has a Facebook page called Far West Miniatures, where he highlights a selection of figurines which includes bison, Native Americans on horseback, weaponry, big game animals and others, all scaled to 1/20th original size.
The McCloud9 Jewelry Design and Foundry website displays a wide range of merchandise and is updated regularly. Vendors can order online and pay with a PayPal account. Shipping is $5 for the first kit and $2 for each kit thereafter. McCloud requires a seven-day lead time to produce and ship wholesale orders.
