Near the site from which the Wright Brothers once launched into flight, a couple of flea market developers have revamped their initial plans and gotten approval from the city elders to launch a new flea market. According to a news report in the Outer Banks Voice, a former lumber yard in Kitty Hawk, N.C., will soon be an indoor flea market with an outdoor produce market. After struggling to win approval for a more ambitious marketplace, Al and Carol Geise have gotten the okay to host nine longer-term vendors inside, with an option to sell seafood inside as well, and to host day-to-day produce vendors outside the old Foreman’s lumber site. The Kitty Hawk town council approved the downsized plan at a meeting yesterday, Dec. 9 — after making the Geises jump through hoops since April and earlier.
The Kitty Hawk Farm N Flea Market, located at 4100 North Croatan Highway, is now looking for vendors. For information, visit the market’s page on Facebook or its Web site or call (252) 564-9030.
