A new outdoor flea market has been approved for operation in Springville, N.Y. At its May 17 meeting, the village board gave the go-ahead for the launch of the Springville Flea Market, as reported by MetroWNY.com. The market will be held in the Springville Village Center parking lot on weekends from May through September, starting this weekend, May 29 and 30, says market president Rita Roosa.
According to the news report, “The proposed market could have as many as 38 vendors set up in an area covering a total of 28 by 304 feet and would be at the southern end of the parking lot adjacent to the grass.”
“There is room to grow currently, and there is a lot more room for the future,” says Roosa. The shopping center is owned by Roosa’s husband. The center was designed with extra parking space to accommodate future development that later fell through, according to Russo. “Now we are utilizing the extra space because our retailers really don’t need the entire parking space.”
“This will bring more traffic to the plaza and more people to Springville,” she says.
Roosa expects about 20 vendors for the grand opening. The cost for a table will be $25 for both Saturday and Sunday. However, there is a grand opening special: “It is actually running for free this weekend and next weekend,” says Roosa.
One of the stores in the shopping center is Wireless Zone, and store manager Tim Steenberg is enthusiastic. “I’m extremely excited. Any time it brings new people to the plaza, it’s a great thing for our business and for the rest of the businesses in the plaza.”
