The New England Open Markets are a wonderful experience and opportunity. They started when a native New Yorker moved to Boston and was dismayed to find an utter lack of fleas and open markets in his new home. In 2003, his very first market took place and continues to grow every year. The markets provide a selling space for vendors, artisans, artists, chefs, crafters, and other creators. Shoppers are able to interact with the sellers and understand the creation and story of the products they purchase. The markets provide more than a unique marketplace for vendors and consumers.
The dog-friendly New England Open Markets have food trucks featuring everything from Vietnamese, Chilean, and other rare fare to a simple yet delicious grilled cheese. The markets are located in scenic areas and are just as much a tourist destination for shopping and sight seeing, as they are a local favorite for rare finds and exquisite pieces. There are special events throughout the year as well as multiple weekly markets.
The original New England Open Market is the Greenway Open Market. This is a true Boston experience located along the Wharf Districts Parks. It runs May through October every Saturday and Third Sunday of the month. The Salem Open Market, located in the infamous Salem, Massachusetts, takes place Friday through Sunday every week in October. It is part of Salem’s month long Haunted Happenings event. Special events are also planned with the latest ones being Central Flea, a market recurring the last Sunday of every month, Salem Food Truck Festival on September 30 and October 1, Holiday Markets, and a Live Mural and Graffiti Festival. New England Open Markets have an array of events and regular markets for every season. Check out their website to find out how to become a vendor for each market and event.
