An entertainment and retail complex called Route 30 Plex just held a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week in Plainfield, Ill., according to the Plainfield Patch. The facility will host a weekly indoor flea market on Saturdays and Sundays. The inspiration for the center came after local government shot down earlier plans for an outdoor flea market at the location.
The Route 30 Plex centerĀ joined the local chamber of commerce in December.
The flea market will cover 7,000 square feet of space, with room for 90 vendors. According to the Web site, 28 of those spaces are set aside for artisan and crafter booths, with the balance for flea market sellers. A farmer market component is in the works for the spring.

Spaces start at $200 monthly or a 7×10 booth, with electricity, heat, and security for vendors who wish to leave merchandise on site. The organizers have been advertising online to attract new vendors.
Other facilities at the Route 30 Plex include a non-alcoholic dance club and party packages for events. For more information, visit the market Web site or call (630) 918-9137 or (708) 299-7048.
