The Granby Street Flea Market, in Bloomfield, CT, is hosting its grand opening, Saturday, May 18th. The year-round market will be open Saturdays and Sundays, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will offer an eclectic mix of new, antique, used and wholesale items. The market has around 45 indoor booths, each 12 feet by 12 feet, plus a handful of outdoor spaces. Indoor space rental is $30 per day or $50 for the weekend, and the fee for an outdoor space is $20 per day. Interested vendors should contact Michele Cormier, market manager, to reserve a space. “We still have some booths available, but space is becoming limited,” she notes. “We take credit cards and PayPal for booth fees.”
Michele Cormier, along with her husband Nicholas Cormier, says the couple chose to open a venue in this area because there are no other flea markets in the immediate neighborhood, and it is on a busy street, which is a well-traveled bus route. “We’re about two minutes from Hartford and 10 minutes from Bradley International airport,” she adds.
“It’s a lively neighborhood with an eclectic mix of people,” Cormier states. “And Bloomfield needed something since the Salvation Army store closed after one of the storms. The town had no thrifty kind of bargain places to shop. Our landlord has been telling me that everyone is abuzz about the market opening.”
“I love flea markets,” Cormier continues. “I ran church flea markets for several years and I felt opening this new market was the opportunity of a lifetime.” The Granby Street Flea Market is drawing shoppers with advertising in local and regional newspapers, as well as with flyers and signage.
