Flea markets in Texas now have a new addition to the family in Southmayd thanks to Mike Barber and area vendors. Barber, who also owns the Indoor Flea of Sherman Texas located about 10 miles east of Southmayd, saw the opportunity to open a new market and has now done exactly that. The Southmayd Flea Market opened at 22099 State Highway 56 two weeks ago and Barber notes that the market has been received very well thus far. “We had been advertising the flea market for two months while we did work on the building,” he says, so crowds were well informed of the new community feature. The building offers 7,000 square feet of indoor space for vendors and visitors to enjoy, and there is outdoor space as well. Booths are 10 by 20 feet and can be rented for $15 per weekend. Parking is plentiful and “there’s plenty of room to expand,” says Barber. “There are 52 acres of space around the market, so we’ll have lots of room to grow when we need to grow.” More information about the market, amenities and booth rental can be found by calling 903-818-6411.
