A new toy wholesaler called Cool City Trading is making a bid to attract flea market vendor attention with a lowest-price strategy. “This is a new company,” says manager Robin Yao, “and we sell radio-controlled toys. We offer very low wholesale prices.”
“The Web site went live in September,” he adds, noting that it is still under construction. “People can see the catalog online, but they have to call in to provide the payment. They cannot check out online,” he says.
Based in Houston, Cool City Trading has a hot-selling specialty: “Mostly radio controlled helicopters,” Yao explains, “and also cars and boats. But mostly helicopters.”
The company is doing a lot of business with flea markets and mall kiosks, selling at competitive prices. “The most important thing for them, especially those in flea markets, is cost,” says Yao. “That’s why I emphasize pricing. This is the lowest wholesale pricing they can find in the state.”
The company has another competitive benefit. “Besides the pricing, we carry parts for the helicopters we sell,” he adds. “Helicopters sometimes break very easily, so they can always find replacement parts here. That’s another advantage.”
The minimum quantity is one case; generally speaking, three large copters might fit in one case, or 24 mini-helicopters. Cool City offers lower prices for high volume purchases, and can ship quickly out of the company warehouse.
