Scott Ferris didn’t set out to own a flea market. He was running a successful marine supply business, and the owner of a nearby flea market asked him to set up at his market. That proved even more of a success. “We got to be so busy, we just decided to lease a whole building and take over.”
Now Ferris runs the Creekside Flea Market, at 1609 Highway 129 South in Cleveland, Ga., north of Atlanta. “We just took it over,” he says. “We have a change of venue as well.” Although the market is over 30 years old, with the new ownership and location, Ferris recently celebrated a “grand opening.”
The market is mostly indoors, with 13,000 square feet; Ferris uses half of that as his own selling space for marine products. He currently has nine other vendors, and has room outside for more. “We occupy about half of it with the marine stuff,” he says. “The other half is for vendors, and they have all different kinds of stuff — jewelry, furniture, and glassware, for example.”
Ferris charges $100 per month inside, or $10 per day outside. The market is open Thursday through Sunday, 9 am to 5 pm. For more information, call (727) 639-7268 or (678) 492-9378. Scott Ferris can also be reached at scottsdiscountmarine@gmail.com.
