Each season, Pantone Color Institute creates the PANTONE Fashion Color Trend Report, an overview highlighting top designer color choices and palettes we can expect to see popping up in all areas of design in the coming months, including home decor and interior design.
The 2018 colors include Meadowlark, a bright golden yellow; Cherry Tomato, a fiery orangey-red; Little Boy Blue, an azure blue shade; Chilli Oil, an earthy brown-red; Pink Lavender, a soft romantic violet; Blooming Dahlia, a pastel coral; Arcadia, a retro green with blue undertones; Ultra Violet, a complex deep purple; Emperador, a rich chocolate brown; Almost Mauve, a delicate off-white purple; Spring Crocus, a fuchsia shade; and Lime Punch, a green citrus shade. The neutral color palette consists of Sailor Blue, a muted navy; Harbor Mist, a mid-tone gray; Warm Sand, a classic neutral; and Coconut Milk, a warm off-white.
The Pantone 2018 palette offers greater opportunity for experimentation and self-expression with 12 dynamic shades and four traditional seasonal shades. Each of the 12 vibrant colors are very animated in their own right, and when grouped together demonstrate a departure from traditional color pairing guidelines. The vibrant and colorful palette indicates a sense of optimism and joy; spring is in full bloom.
Flea marketers can appeal to the playful attitudes of shoppers by offering affordable textiles in a variety of colors, textures, and patterns. Vendors should not feel confined to traditional neutrals and classic stripes or florals. Experiment by adding unusual patterns and lively color choices. A dynamic selection will help you stand out from other sellers and draw the wandering eye of passive shoppers.
