The first day of the 13th Annual NFMA Conference opened with a golf tournament yesterday at the Paiute Golf Club in Las Vegas. The National Flea Market Association members played on the resort’s original Snow Mountain course. The tourney was sponsored by Sumner Communications, the parent company of FleaMarketZone.com.
The sporting and networking event was hosted by Sumner CEO E. Scott Sumner, who explained the rationale behind the event. “As the kick-off event for the 2011 NFMA conference in Las Vegas, this tournament brings together the leaders of the flea market and swap meet industry from across the United States,” he says. “This fun, informal event fosters camaraderie and communication among the power players from America’s most rapidly expanding retail business forum.”
NFMA executive director Mark Blakewood agreed. “I always felt that the enjoyment and camaraderie built on a golf course can only help provide a beautiful and relaxing setting to learn more about the individual underneath the business face we all present in the corporate environment,” he says. “Simply put, in this fast-paced and hectic business world, it’s a great place to gather, relax and enjoy the company of people and the particular business challenges they face.”
