Budpak Inc., manufacturer and distributor of medical creams, is reaching out to flea market and swap meet vendors as the next logical step in its expansion plan. “Our business has been around for 16 years, and we’ve noticed that the dollar stores have had a huge increase in sales as the economy goes down,” says Budpak vice president Greg Singer. Now his company is looking to move deeper into discount retail, including flea markets “The stores that sell affordable products are doing better. The next category for us to get into would be this new market.”
Budpak, a family business, has a compelling line of health-related products. “Our biggest sellers right now are muscle rubs, triple antibiotics, first aid cream, and hydrocortisone cream, and we have 13 products in that line.”
Flea market vendors will appreciate the low prices that Budpak offers, especially compared with high-end, name-brand products. “Our triple antibiotic goes up against Neosporin, which is a premium brand,” says Singer. “One tube of Neosporin can go for $10 at a store. Our product could be sold for $1. It has the same antibiotic, so we’re able to compete and keep our process very reasonable.”
Another selling point: a unique market niche. “What’s compelling about us is that there’s very little competition in this arena when it comes to our products,” exlains Singer. “We keep our prices very very low. You get a high quality product for a low price.”
Budpak has two ways for vendors to get great deals. “Vendors have two options. They can buy small quantities on Amazon’s Marketplace. They can buy one carton, which is just 24 tubes. And they can still get a very good price online,” says Singer. “Or, in the flea market world, vendors can come directly to us and buy. A pallet is 192 cartons, and that would be the minimum, so that’s a fairly large size order.”
“For a flea market vendor, it’s a very affordable alternative that you can’t find anywhere else,” adds Singer. For more information, visit the Budpak Web site or call (631) 648-3370 or e-mail email@example.com.
