The Orange County, CA Fair Board of Directors has postponed the decision on whether to replace the Orange County Market Place effective March 2013 until next month’s meeting, as contentious debate has forced the board to hold off on requesting new proposals to operate the site.
According to a report in the Orange County Register, the board decided it will formally reconsider its decision to replace current operator TelPhil Enterprises next month after dozens of angry swap meet vendors protested at last Thursday’s meeting. The Register noted that the meeting was very heated, with many commenters, mostly vendors, running over their time and often interrupting the proceeding.
Still Open for Business
In the meantime, the Orange County Market Place remains open for business Saturdays and Sundays from 7 am to 4 pm, and the fair’s website urges visitors to continue to shop and support the nearly 1,000 vendors at the market. Admission is $2. For more information, email info@ocmarketplace.com.
