The Pocono Bazaar flea market has a new home just a few miles north its former location. After closing in December 2011, the flea market is continuing its nearly 30-year-old legacy and has seen an uptick in traffic since the move. The Pocono Bazaar is one of Northeast Pennsylvania’s largest flea markets and is now located in the former Foxmoor Village Shopping Center, at 400 Foxmoor Drive in East Stroudsburg, PA. The complex is also home to a beauty salon, a PNC Bank branch, a church, a movie theater, the local library, an army and navy store, as well as a dollar store. Relocating the Bazaar to this plaza allowed the market managers to flip vacant stores into vendor areas, and has revitalized the mall as a whole.
The Park of the Matter
“The parking lot is filled with cars every Saturday and Sunday,” Wayne Rohner, zoning officer for Middle Smithfield Township tells Timesleader.com. “The mall has been revived because of it. It was pretty much a dead zone. It now has weekend life.” The area had suffered from traffic congestion for quite some time and was waiting for construction to begin on a bypass. This construction finally completed in June and Rohner comments that the new flow made an incredible difference for motorists and shoppers alike, cutting travel time by the plaza area down to one-third of what it had been previously. Moving forward, the Pocono Bazaar still has many prosperous years ahead.
