Aram Farr, manager of SD Designer Handbags, has been in the business of handbags long enough to know what retailers want: great fashion at a great price.
“There are two types of buyers in the handbag market,” he said. “Those who want the latest designs and those who are price driven. Both sectors are strong right now, and we cater to both high-fashion buyers and price-conscious buyers.”
Today, SD Designer Handbags, operating as PursePros, offers a complete line of fashion handbags, backpacks, men’s bags, duffle bags, and canvas messenger bags and backpacks. The company both imports and manufactures product, making it possible for Purse Pros to keep the wholesale prices low even on popular items.
“We’re one of the biggest manufacturers of canvas backpacks and messenger bags,” says Navid Kohan in marketing and sales. “Our customers vary from boutiques to flea markets and we even supply chain stores.”
SD understands retailers, Farr recalls, because the company’s roots are in retail. “SD has been around for seven years,” he remembers. “But I’ve been in the handbag business for eighteen years. I started in a retail store, then went to wholesale and retail, and now I’m in the wholesale business.”
PursePros products can be ordered from the company’s website. According to Farr, there’s a minimum purchase of $150 and only qualified retailers can get wholesale pricing. Retailers are qualified by showing a retail license. Shipping is not included in orders, because according to Farr, the savings are built into the company’s pricing.
Depending on the product line and discount, Farr says that retailers can easily achieve keystone pricing, “but it depends on where in the market you are and what type of business you have.”
