In order to showcase the talented community of Ridgewood, NY, Sarah Feldman decided to take it upon herself to start a market where residents of the area could display their artistic ability and craftsmanship. From jewelry to paintings, baked goods and soap, a variety of creative goods are to be found at the Ridgewood Market. November will be a busy month for the market, as they will be hosting two events, a Night Market November 7 and the Brunch Market on November 15.
“This market was started because we felt art in Ridgewood, Queens was being overlooked,” shares Feldman. “Long Island City, Astoria and other parts of Queens were always in the news so we thought ‘why not here?’ There are so many amazing artists and designers in this area.”
Ridgewood Market is seen as a community based, family friendly artisan market in which vendors of all kinds can share their unique talents and products with one another. “This is art and design on a modest budget,” says Feldman. “Everyone deserves something amazing. Our market is proof that community and friends are all you need to be successful.”
The market houses over 40 vendors and was established in April 2013. The hours of operation are 5-11pm for the Night Market and 11am-5pm for the Brunch Market. Both events will offer music and food for customers to enjoy as they shop. For more information on upcoming events or how to become a vendor, visit www.ridgewoodmarket.com.
