The Roche Brothers have announced the grand opening of their latest marketplace, which will offer customers a one-stop grocery shopping and dining experience. The Brothers Marketplace will be open to the public at 10am on November 12th in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
This new marketplace will be the fifth Brothers Marketplace store and will feature a carefully curated selection of fresh foods, local and specialty products, delicious prepared meals, grocery essentials, and catering. With 12,000 square feet of retail space, the market will emphasize local producers and vendors that have been handpicked by store associates, including Iggy’s Bread and Bonnie’s Jams, Taza Chocolate and Fluff, and many others.
An additional 8,000 square feet of prep space will include a kitchen for making a wide selection of prepared foods and scratch-baked creations with Brothers Marketplace’s own recipes. The store will also offer fun, interactive features, including a make-your-own salad dressing and marinade station and an “innovation station,” where local businesses and inventors in the area can come to share their latest ideas.
“The city of Cambridge is a vibrant center of innovation and we can’t wait to open our latest Brothers Marketplace store in the heart of it all,” said Rick Roche, co-owner and CEO of Roche Bros. “It means a lot to us to bring the first contemporary grocery store to the dynamic MIT Kendall Square community, and we look forward to serving area residents and businesses.”
Brothers Marketplace is a neighborhood market from Roche Bros. Supermarkets, featuring hand picked selections of fresh foods, local products, delicious prepared meals, and grocery essentials. Brothers Marketplace has four other locations in Massachusetts: Duxbury, Medfield, Weston, and Waltham. Roche Bros. Supermarkets was founded by brothers Pat and Bud Roche in 1952. Brothers Marketplace is a next-generation offering, brought to the local communities by Pat’s sons and current owners Rick and Ed Roche.
This new marketplace will bring a creative approach to food, with a nod to the legacy of small neighborhood markets from long ago. Shoppers in Cambridge can expect an inviting in-store experience, whether staying for a meal, picking up groceries, or working with the on-site catering manager to plan a business meeting or celebration.
Customers can indulge in scratch-baked pastries, locally roasted coffee from Armeno’s in Northborough, tea from The Tea Guys in Whatley, MA, and espresso drinks from the store’s bakery and coffee bar, which will feature indoor and outdoor seating. The store will also feature a salad bar, hot grab-and-go meals and prepared foods, a hot pretzel station, a bulk foods wall of nuts and snacks, made-to-order sandwiches and sushi rolled and hand cut by Kyo’s sushi chefs. Customers will also find a wide selection of natural and antibiotic free meats and a live lobster tank.
The market is expected to bring more than 200 jobs to the neighborhood. Roche Bros. has a long history of working closely with the communities it serves around philanthropy and employment opportunities. The company has won numerous awards for job quality and workforce development.
The store will have its front entrance at One Broadway, with dedicated parking spots available in the building’s garage. The new market will be open Monday-Saturday 7am-9pm and Sunday 8am-8pm.
