Nothing goes better with a little shopping than listening to great music, a feature the popular Santa Fe Swap Meet is held in great renown. From its first live performer in 1985, visitors have been rocking out every weekend to a huge array of live bands. From local talent to tributes for the Beatles, Johnny Cash, The Rolling Stones, Metallica and more, there is sure to be music familiar to everyone at one of the shows.
“Having a band always draws in a great crowd,” says David Figueroa, Entertainment Manager. “These performers are a great alternative for people who like this type of music but do not want to spend the full price to go to a concert.” Instead, shoppers at the market are treated to a show for the small price of market admission.
A trip to the swap meet is a perfect family outing that encompasses great deals, food and music. The concert area fits 1,000 people and has its own dance floor and picnic area for visitors to sit back and enjoy the shows. With over 500 vendors, shoppers are guaranteed to find amazing deals all while listening to some of their favorite songs. “Our goal is to continue getting as many new visitors out here as possible,” says Figueroa. “These events go all year and we have no plans on changing that.”
The swap meet is open Tuesday through Thursday from 7am-2:30pm, Friday from 4-11pm and Saturday and Sunday from 7am-5pm. Bands go on from 7-11pm on Friday night, and 12-5pm on the weekend. Admission is free from Tuesday through Thursday, $2.50 on Friday, $1.00 on Saturday and $1.50 on Sunday. There is no additional fee for watching the bands perform.
