The Selkirk Fire Co. 2 will be hosting their annual Flea Market and Craft Fair on July 25 from 8am to 5pm. With over 125 vendors and in its 40th year, the market will be selling new, used and antique merchandise. “This has been a fixture in the area for decades,” said Doug Van Appledoorn, Chairperson of the market and Vice President of the Fire Company. “People come from all over New York state and even surrounding states. This is a hometown flea that people can rely on and look forward to.” The flea market was created as a fundraiser for the volunteer fire department and sells a wide range of product from antiques, housewares, and toys to sports memorabilia, beauty, and crafts. “About 75% of our vendors are repeat sellers that come every year and really enjoy being in this area and being a part of the market,” said Van Appledoorn. “We have no problem filling up the space.” The market used to be in conjunction with an annual fair, but the two were separated out recently to better utilize the amount of volunteers available.
