The town of Packwood, WA is rapt with anticipation as largest flea market in the Northwest prepares to open for Labor Day weekend. The Packwood Flea Market was first established in the 1970s and is held twice every year, for Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. This year, the semi-annual event takes place from Friday, August 31 through Monday, September 3, located at the corner of U.S. Highway 12 and Snyder Road. The market opens for shoppers at 9 a.m. and closes at 6 p.m. from Friday through Sunday, and closes at noon on Monday. Parking costs $5, but shopper admission is free. Camping areas are available and campers are advised to make their reservations in advance, as the event is expected to draw 30,000 people.
Giving Vendors Room to Play With
Vendors have a couple of booth size options available to them. For $40 per day, vendors receive a 10- by 20-foot space, and for $48.75 per day they can reserve a 20- by 20-foot space. Should a vendor need a little more room, extra space can be purchased at the rate of $40 per five-foot section. All vendor fees also include security guard service and amenities.
