Back in 1993, looking to expand their business, the owners of “The Big One” Memphis Flea Market brought their successful market idea to Arkansas. The twist on this market, however, is that it changes location each month in order to reach vendors and shoppers in as wide an area as possible. “Moving the location was a great way to pick up new vendors and it became so popular that people started traveling between the two shows,” says Sandy Hembree, General Manager. “We have built up a strong market in both states and now people from Memphis are selling in Arkansas and vice versa.”
Hembree explains that this is not your typical flea market, as there are no used or pre-owned items available for purchase. “Everything is high quality and new except for our antiques section. We view this as less of a flea market and more of a show. You definitely won’t find any junk here, it is a high class market.”
With over 30,000 square feet of space in Arkansas, there is more than enough room to house its 200 vendors, selling everything from jewelry, rugs and home décor to candles, furniture and even mattresses. Admission for entrance is $3 per person with children 12 and under free. For more information on the Memphis Flea Market and dates and locations for Arkansas, please visit www.memphisfleamarket.com.
