The Cedar Faire Flea Market in Cedar City, Utah, is set to open for the first time on Aug. 7, at 8 a.m., on a large lawn next to a day care facility. “It starts tomorrow,” says owner and manager Charlotte Beatty. “We’re waiting right now for the signs to go up. They should be up today.”
Those signs were late coming, however, and although she has done some radio advertising, she’s not sure what kind of turnout she’ll get. “I think it may not be very big tomorrow,” says Beatty, herself a former vendor.
But she remains optimistic, with plans for expanding. “If we fill up the lawn area, eventually, then we’ll keep on going back to the parking lot,” she says. “The basement floor is all empty, and there are a couple of very large rooms down there that could probably house 15 vendors each.”
The market will be open every Saturday, and an outdoor space will cost a vendor $15. A commitment to six Saturdays cuts that by half, however. A child can set up a table next to a parent’s space for $10. For more information, contact Charlotte Beatty at (435) 586-2418.
