Every year people gather along Highway 127 to take part in what is know as the “World’s Largest Yard Sale,” from the five states of Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio and Michigan. Stretching over 690 miles, communities come together to sell their trinkets starting on the first Thursday of August, this year taking place from August 6-9. “The event in one word is Fun,” said Misty Stephens, Tourism and Membership Director for the 127 Corridor Sale. “This event draws in hundreds of thousands of people, some coming from all over the world. I have met people from Australia, Switzerland, and even ones from the other side of the U.S.” With the vast amount of people taking part in the sale, there is no shortage of items capable of being found. With the yard sale in its 28th year, Stephens says there is still room for growth and vendors to join in. “I believe when this started in 1987 there were only three states participating and now we have five. There are talks of two more towns possibly joining in Michigan so this yard sale will just keep on going up the 127 in the years to come.”
