The Walpole Antique Flea Market finished up its 2012 season by shifting to new management, including market manager Chuck Wojack, and food manager, Sally Richardson. Wojack had been a very close friend of the previous owner, as well as a seasoned vendor, himself, and purchased the market with Richardson after their predecessor made him an offer he couldn’t refuse. “The market has been open for quite a number of years,” he says. “We’re looking forward to making some changes when we start it back up again in May. Not too many changes though, because the prices aren’t going to change for our vendors.” The market will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., though Wojack hopes to add Thursday and Friday hours to the coming season, as well. Rates will stay steady at $20 for one day and $15 per day for a weekend. There are also plans to offer more for vendors, including new canopies, new tents and an additional six tented spaces to encourage more vendors to participate. Presently, each weekend sees between 30 and 40 vendors, but Wojack hopes the updates will reinvigorate the market.
Wojack maintains a booth where he sells used and refurbished computers, but he also notes that popular flea market merchandise at Walpole Antique Flea Market includes new clothing, cosmetics, jewelry, media, coins and collectibles. “Newer tools seem to be strong sellers here, too,” he adds. The market has offered a number of events and incentives in the past, such as pony rides and coupons, and Wojack plans to investigate other options in the future, such as themed swap meet weekends and more promotions, which have helped attract traffic in past years.
