Wolff’s Flea Markets announces the reopening of its outdoor location in Rosemont, IL, Sunday, April 7th. The company also operates an indoor venue in nearby Palatine, IL, which is open Saturdays and Sundays year-round. Brothers David and Donald Wolff launched the markets in 1991.
The Palatine market is seasonal and the prime months for sales are September through May. “In the wintertime, we have about 300 vendors and in the summer we have about 250 spaces filled in Palatine,” says David Wolff. “Rosemont is our largest market, and it runs from April through the end of October. We get a lot of shoppers at our indoor market, and when the weather turns nice, people tend to go to our outdoor market. We accommodate 725 vendors and our spaces are 450 square feet. If the weather is nice, we’ll come close to 725 and we might even have to turn vendors away.” Wolff’s has not yet set 2013 booth pricing, but last year a space was $38 per day. Vendors pay on the day they set up shop, with the exception of vendors who pay a yearly fee to hold a specific spot.
Wolff’s Flea Markets’ Rosemont location offers a good mix of new and used merchandise, Wolff points out. “We’re an old-fashioned flea market and we’re well-known for collectibles. Many antique stores, higher end flea markets and merchants who sell on eBay come to us to get their inventory.” Whether they sell new or used items, vendors are guaranteed to get a great crowd of shoppers, Wolff adds, because the market is at the intersection of two main highways, and is near O’Hare Airport and the City of Chicago. The market provides indoor restrooms as well as a strong security presence. “We have quite a few security officers from the Rosemont Police Department patrol the aisles,” Wolff notes. “You’re bound to see one of our employees or a police officer every five to 10 minutes.”
